COMMUNITY Events

 

 

The support of community fundraising events is vital to accomplish Youth Without Shelter's vision to:  end homelessness for youth, one person at a time, one step at a time. 

 

The possibilities for events that you and your community group can create to support Youth Without Shelter are endless:

 

  • Bake sales

  • Car washes

  • Collecting contributions at your next staff holiday party

  • Walk-a-thons, sleep-a-thons

  • Garage sales

  • Auctions

  • Hygiene product drives

  • Donate-a-ride-TTC token drives

  • Holiday gift drives

  • Tickets sales to a fashion show,  a dance, a play, a musical performance or a sporting event

  •  Coffee party with a YWS speaker  

  • Host a dinner party/birthday party/anniversary party:  rather than a gift have the guests bring a donation for YWS 

 

      

    

Youth for Youth Events

 

Through our Youth for Youth program, we offer young people an opportunity to get together with friends, with school groups, sports teams or faith communities, to help us solve an issue that affects their peers.

 

We will work with you or your group to help you host an event that demonstrates that you are part of the community solution to youth homelessness.

 

Give some thought to planning:

 

  • School assemblies or classroom workshops on youth homelessness with a YWS speaker

  • Dances and music events

  • Participate through your school in the Toskan Foundation Youth and Philanthropy Initiative and research YWS

  • Collection drives for: TTC tokens, hygiene products, holiday gift cards, school supplies, art supplies

 

 

How can Youth Without Shelter help with your event?

 

  • Announce your event on our website.  Acknowledge your event in our newsletter.

 

  • Logistical support:  Youth Without Shelter would be pleased to review your event plan.

 

  • Supply you with Youth Without Shelter brochures, fact sheets, annual reports, newsletters for circulating at your event.

 

  • A Youth Without Shelter representative and/or speaker can attend your event to share the story of YWS and  the realities of youth homelessness.
